This morning we got off to a bit of a bumpy start. My husband is a type I diabetic, and he was having an insulin reaction when I woke up. Usually, I can bring him out of it fairly quickly, but this morning he wasn’t cooperative so I had to resort to calling 911. I think in the almost twelve years we’ve lived here, I’ve had to call about four times. I’m sure the firemen that come think I’m a callous person because I tend to insert my humor while they’re here, but I recognize the point when my husband’s going to be fine so I feel a joke here and there helps lighten the mood. At least the police officer that accompanied them and my daughter appreciated my humor. Seriously, though, in situations like this, you really appreciate the people who serve on the fire and police departments and come to your aid. Sometimes a simple thank you seems inadequate for what they do.
Glad to hear everything is ok. I used to be a 911 operator, it was nice once in a while when people called back on the non-emergency line to say thanks!
So glad to hear your husband is ok and yes, I don't think our public servants in the fire, police or emergency branches get thanked enough. The things they have to know and stay on top of is incredible. I like how you've featured the 911 call here both in your words and your photo.
@bill_d@bobfoto@scrappydoo@careysims@olivetreeann Thank you for the supportive comments. He’s fine and actually still made it to work on time, but sometimes his wacky blood glucose levels take us on a wild ride.
Oh my. Lisa, I'm glad he recovered quickly; but I'm certain that's stressful. I totally get the humor bit, though. My husband and I will lighten any mood with jokes once we know all will really be OK, and sometimes we get some strange looks. Wonderful focus on the photo, and very sincere sentiment re: the emergency workers who come to our aid...
black humor is what I was raised on... and boy does it help..
Glad to hear you hubby is feeling better... and I agree thanks are not enough sometimes..
