Bargain Hunting by lisabell

Bargain Hunting

There’s just about a week left until our local Borders closes so I decided to see if I could find some bargains. I ended up walking out with five books for twenty-five bucks, so I was pretty pleased. I could have spent a lot more because they still had quite a good selection of fiction and biographies. I’m really going to miss this store and Borders in general. I have lots of good memories of it. My dad even took me to the original Borders in Ann Arbor, Michigan when I was up visiting him once. I almost felt like I was taking advantage of a dying friend by scavenging through the books for bargains.
It is getting more and more difficultfor bookstores to make it today with everything going electronic.

@digitalrn That’s so true. I do think Borders went overboard with opening stores. I have four within a twenty minute drive of my home. Still, I’m going to miss it!

I need to stop by. Is this the one at Castleton Mall? I am sad they are going out of business. Great photo. The lighted sign and yellow banner pop.

I was totally gutted when they shut down all their stores in GB. It is sad to see they have gone totally bust. Borders were one of my favourite ever shops - you can't beat food for the brain in my book (excuse the pun). Iconic post

@deniseinindy Thanks! It’s actually Hamilton Town Center. The fiction is 60% off right now and most of the other stuff is 50%.

@whippeteer I love a good pun as well as a good book! Buying books on Amazon is great, but there’s nothing like perusing the shelves of a bookstore. Bummer.

@paulaag Thank you! She’s doing really well, and surprisingly, so am I! She’ll be coming home this weekend, but already has plans to ditch me for her friends.

Good shot. Book stores are really struggling to stay in business.

When ours closed I thought I was going to save a ton of money and get some great books. Not. Guess I should have waited longer.

we went to ours and I felt the same guilt - didn't buy much - may have to see if they are still there . . . take another dose of guilt. So sad =(

We did the same here in the UK a couple of years ago, got loads of books but no bookshops is a high price to pay.

hate that they are going out of business...wish they would have been able to see that needed to create a nook or kindle or something to tag up with. You got a great bargain!

The face of retail is changing so much. Glad you found some books to enjoy! Book stores and card stores are two places where I can spend a lot of time.
