Old Powder House

Built in 1703 as a windmill for a family farm the La d was sold in 1747 and the windmill was structured was as a (gun) powder storage. In 1774 the British seized the gunpowder marking the first act of aggression by the British toward the colonies and consequently triggered the “powder alarm”. Where many individuals from surrounding villages prepared to march to Boston for battle.
