Library in a bottle

The library branch in my part of town is quite unusual. The original red-brick Carnegie building is 100 years old. In 2007, when there was a need to expand, the entire structure was encased in a glass box like a ship in a bottle. This expanded the footprint without harming the heritage building.

I'm really glad they didn't just tear it down, and I wish the other two Carnegies in town were still something publicly accessible.

I like it, but I know that most architects don't like to design in the style of the past. They prefer to use a contemporary style.

What an interesting solution to the problem. Thinking outside the box, so to speak. I appreciate the difficulty you would have had shooting that. Did you try a polarizing filter?

@cdcook48 I didn’t Chris. I was mid-run and just liked the light and reflections. But it is a bugger to shoot for sure!
