Springtime in West Texas is a lovely thing to see. Mesquite trees, Live Oak trees and of course Prickly Pear cactus, are everywhere. We drove over 300 miles to my hometown this weekend and I loved seeing all the bright green plants. It is so evident our long drought has subsided, so thankful for that!
@beryl Just so glad for the spring green! @henrir Yes, I have quite a few 70mph's after this trip, you can sure tell the drought is over! So much new green growth!
@nicolecampbell Yes, it really is a pest plant. The farmers and ranchers blow torch it and pull it up, it takes constant work, really. They also just burn off the thorns so the cattle can eat the leaves. Ouch!
I didn't realize that Texas had been having drought conditions ... I actually thought it had been the opposite, but then, Texas IS a big state! I love the Mesquite trees... so "Desert"...
@littleconnie@gaylewood@happysnaps Thank you so much for your comments! @Weezilou we had a lot of rain last year that broke the drought, this has been an unusually good spring, I think the water last year watered deep into the ground, we are so thrilled to have lush green! I know I am!
@louannwarren I hear you loud and clear! The drought-breaking rainfall we had this winter turned the crisp. tawny hillsides to lush green as well! Each has a certain charm, but the green is so much better for all involved!
