This bird was solid black, he picked up a lowly earthworm for a quick snack, then he was off! I couldn't believe the colors of his feathers when I looked at the photos later. He really was a common blackbird!
@maggiemae Thank you, when he was in flight he looked like all the blackbirds we have around here, actually maybe they aren't blackbirds at all! When he flew from the fence his wings and body were black purple and shiny. I have so much to learn about birds!
