This is cattle country, the terrain is too rugged for farming. Many old wooden barns dot the landscape, they are no longer in use, having been replaced by large metal barns elsewhere on the property. The old wooden barns decay beautifully really, they have so much more character than the metal ones. A 70 mph photo!
I guess keeping up the wooden ones is a bit costly and the metal lasts longer. At least the wooden ones still serve as artistic inspiration. Good shot for 70 mph!
Thank you for your wonderful comments and favs. I appreciate each one of them so much! On any cattle ranch you can find old wooden barns, I was just fortunate this one was visible from the highway!
@summerfield That’s not water in the distance, just more land. The Red River is north of this property but it’s a trickle right now. These ranchers have to drill for water.
@taffy Life was challenging for our farmers before the inventions of all the farm equipment they now have. Some ranches in Texas are so huge the ranchers use helicopters to round up their cattle, for small places they can get by with 4 wheelers (ATV’s).
