This is the county courthouse in Fort Worth, it is built of pink granite in the Renaissance Revival style. It was constructed from 1893-1895 for a cost of $408,000; Fort Worth’s citizens considered it a “public extravagance” and voted in a new County Commissioner’s Court in 1894. In 2012 a 14-month renovation cost $4.5 million. It is a revered building today, on the National Historic Places and Texas Historic Landmark Lists. This is the view of it from Sundance Square, the photo I posted yesterday.
Thank you! The best thing about this Courthouse is that Fort Worth recognized the historic significance of the building and restored it instead of abandoning it.
Such a gorgeous old building - love your POV with the leading line of the tree lined street. Really attractive. This could be in a Fort Worth brochure!
Like the leading lines up to the beautiful building - Ft. Worth has such a interesting history with its old west themes and this renaissance building. So glad it's been preserved.
Looks beautiful. Our town just built a new City Hall at a cost of $38 million!! While I voted in favor of it, when it was $24 million, I think they spent too much. There was a property tax increase and now a proposed bond issue...all within a few months. I hope we can look back and be appreciative.
You just have to be grateful they persevered with this building in spite of the financial cost. It will last for centuries and be an historic building to remember!
@danette It is outrageous to me that building construction costs go up like they do once construction begins. I built branches for the credit union the last 10 years of my career, I put a clause in the contract that no additional funds would be allocated to the buildout, that they would be required to meet the budgeted amount, not a dime over. No excuses. That clause made every contractor go back to their bids, making sure they had enough money to complete the jobs.

Thank you so much for your comments and favs! This was on the PP this morning, thank you! 😊
