To go anywhere west of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, you have to cross the Mississippi. This is the cantilever Horace Wilkinson Bridge, named after 3 different Horace Wilkinson’s who served a total of 54 years in the Louisiana Legislature. It opened in 1968, is the tallest bridge on the river, is 1.387 miles long and carries 6 lanes of traffic at a buildout cost of $48 million. An average of 200,000 cars and trucks cross it every day because it is part of the major east - west US Interstate, I-10 highway. It afforded nice views of the Mississippi!
Lots of lines and patterns beautifully captured Lou Ann, seems to have far to many weight saving holes or is it cost saving holes for this old engineer, lol:)
@pcoulson It reminded me of my son’s Erector Set. Considering how many cars and trucks traverse it most days, the design is evidently perfect, and perfectly weighted. Smile.
