This painted church was built in 1870 by Wendish immigrants from Hamburg, Germany. It was the plainest of the painted churches we saw. It has a two story pulpit that is still used today. I took the photo on the left when I climbed to the organ loft, you can see the pulpit at the end of the sanctuary, up high. It is the tallest church pulpit in Texas. The photo on the right shows the back of the sanctuary, that’s Jerry patiently waiting for me while I took photos. Even though the sanctuary didn’t have the ornate painting and stenciling it was beautifully designed, the blue and white paint with touches of hold was lovely.
