Mother the photographer by louannwarren

Mother the photographer

I laughed when my sister sent me this photo recently. It was taken in August 1953 and printed in March of 1963. It was so like mother to wait 10 years to develop a roll of film. Mother’s photos were famous for the lopped off heads of the subjects. That’s me and my Scotty Mo on my 10th birthday. Today is mother’s birthday, she was born June 8, 1910, we lost her on Valentine’s Day, 1999. I sure miss her. For “memories”, a word for this month.
ha ha, ,my mum was a bit like that too, sometimes so focused on the buildings that I hardly rated in the photo!

Ha ha made me laugh out loud. Brought to mind the photo you posted last year of Camille where the other people had heads chopped off. Maybe the photographers attended to the same photo course.

Your mom and my daughter - for chopping off heads, though Les has gotten better since Jerik came along :) 16 years to develop - thank goodness for digital - probably have them done in less than 2 hours from when I take them.

Oh Lou Ann This made me laugh! I don’t think I could have waited ten years to get a roll of film processed, I’m far too impatient!

My mother-in-law went to the same school of photograghy Lou Ann, another priceless image from your mother for sure:)

@pusspup @onewing @annied @beryl @ingrid01 @gijsje @kaylynn2150 @grammyn @carolmw @milaniet @carole_sandford @pcoulson @stray_shooter @happysnaps thank you all for your fun comments, this image struck a chord, it reminds everyone of someone in their family. I’ve been tall for forever, Mom was 5’6” though so it wasn’t that she was short, surely our heads were in the viewfinder and she just dropped the camera a bit when she pushed the shutter button, because honestly so many of her photos are headless. 😊 This popped on the PP today ! Thank you!

Sure makes you appreciate digital where you can see exactly what will be in the picture! When I first started taking pictures at 8 I tended to not hold the camera steady. So a lot of my early pictures look like the world is racing by! What a fun memory for you.
