May we pass? by louannwarren

May we pass?

There is an ever growing gaggle of snow geese in our son’s neighborhood. These geese were slowly walking to the pond across the street when we went to the Memorial Day party. Just a quick shot through our car’s windshield.
Terrrific shot of them. They look as if they own the road.

Geese seem to find any water source

Amazing to see so many, are they Egyptian geese? They are pests here 😉

@ludwigsdiana we call them Canadian Snow Geese. They are certainly becoming pests here, their relatives came to Texas and never left. They seem to multiply like crazy, too.

@joansmor @mittens @k9photo @pusspup thank you for hour great comments; they’ve gone from being a lot of fun to watch, to a real problem for everyone who lives in that area.

The Canada Geese have the right of way and cars stop to let them slowly walk across in heavy traffic. I posted a picture to the effect a while back.

Many of us wish the Canada Geese would go back to Canada- wow- I would think the warmer climate of TX would be too warm for them. You are right- they are pests and pretty much destroy whatever lawn, pond or lake they take over with all their poop! This shot certainly depicts the situation quite well!

They look as though they are on guard duty. Hope you managed to get past them, they can be quite aggressive.

@carolmw @gijsje @koalagardens @bruni @pcoulson @carole_sandford @olivetreeann @onewing @bkbinthecity @happysnaps thank you so much for your comments, I see that many of you know about these geese. Honestly they’ve only been prevalent here for maybe 10 years. They prefer the smaller residential canals to our large lakes so they are more visible to all the homeowners (who sure don’t like all the mess). 😊
