Freedom Pavers at the WWII Museum in New Orlesns

There are 45,000 bricks laid in the sidewalks leading to the museum. Each one tells a story of a man or woman in every branch of the military who served during WWII. I loved reading some of the names and what battle they fought in. For my rainbow orange today.
What an amazing accomplishment to lay all these slabs, each one different to the other ! And what a sad reminder of all these brave men and women! Thanks for sharing.

Amazing installation I spent ages just studying this small area, It would take me ages to walk this walk, they have a path of remembrance at the International Bomber Command Memorial with the names of those lost in bomber command laid by the relatives, out of respect I have read every single one over a few visits and they are still adding more:)

@sangwann @ludwigsdiana @mittens @beryl @grammyn @joansmor @carolmw @happypat @k9photo @jacqbb @carole_sandford @onewing @radiogirl @linnypinny @bkbinthecity @danette @taffy @happysnaps @pcoulson @ziggy77 thank you for your wonderful comments and faves. This museum was the D Day Museum for many years then some years ago the city changed it to the all encompassing World War II event(s). It is so well done and I think it’s important for every American to see it. We owe our free country that we enjoy today to these fine men and women. We named them “America’s Greatest Generation”. This is on the PP and TP today, thank you!

Memorials like this are so needed- I just wish the younger generations really understood their significance. Great shot!

I've been to the World War II Museum many times. Your photo captures the essence of it--the sacrifice of so many people for the common good.
