We've been unpacking for 3 weeks now... and each day a lump has increased in size on Lucy's shoulder. I started looking for a Vet referral last week when the bump doubled in size. The soonest appt I could get (as a first time patient) was 3 weeks so we took her to a Vet up the street. They did a biopsy yesterday and let us know it would be 5-7 days before the results came back. They called today!
Unfortunately, our Lucy has a fast growing MAST cell tumor. They did blood work and took an x-ray in preparation for her oncology appt tomorrow. We've been told chemo and radiation will probably be offered. I'm going to hold my emotions back until we get more details- like what stage the cancer is and what plan of action the Vet thinks is best.
The ironic thing about today? It is my 5th year anniversary of my last treatment for cancer. I went through surgery, chemo and lastly radiation which ended today 5 years ago!
Very touching photo and comments... we have a 17 year old dog with lymphoma. My heart goes out to you. Praise that you have been cancer free for five years.
My heart feels such sadness because of this news. Dear, sweet Lucy... And you and her Dad too — such a heavy concern for you both the have. Your 5th year anniversary is something to celebrate for sure though.
