Another try for a waterlily with waterfall in background. I like the dof, white balance was almost perfect but exposure was off. I was shooting Aperture Priority and should have gone full Manual and underexposed.
So, the bokeh in the background is the waterfall? Difficult to tell it's a waterfall. Interesting effect on the second flower just behind the main one. Is there a bit of HDR here? I really like the flower in the foreground and like the bokeh in the background, however.
Was this taken with your 105mm macro? That's such a great lens.
I have found that my D300 likes to have a -.1 to -.2 stop underexposure setting.
@mikehamm Yes, the bokeh in the background is the waterfall. It is not hdr but I used a bleach filter on it to darken the overexposed areas. It was my 105mm macro and my D300 also likes to have a -.1 to -.2 underexposure setting. I usually use M but I was laying over the edge of the pond to get the right angle and thought it would be easier not to have to adjust both settings. Live and Learn.
love the bokeh the waterfalls create. I think the waterlily is very pretty in this one. Sometimes I struggle with should I go aperture priority or full manual on specific shots. I really think the aperture you selected in this worked well for this shot
@myhrhelper Thanks Kathy. I generally shoot full manual because I think my camera overexposes on aperture priority. I really like the aperture on this also. The sweet spot on this lens is between f/5.6 - f/11.
