I have read about reversing your lens to take macro shot and thought I would see if I could get closer than my 105mm macro focuses. I used my 50mm f/1.4 and it is definitely closer. The lens was set to f/16 and I set the camera to Manual, f/16 and used the camera meter to set speed. I found that using the camera meter I should underexpose by about 2 stops to get a proper exposure. Focusing would be a real issue in substandard lighting.
Overall I think the photo came out pretty good but I think I could take just as good of a shot with my 105mm and just crop in closer. Also this would have been a lot easier to do if I had a reversing ring and was not balancing the camera, the lens and trying to move everything around to get the right focus. I would recommend this if you wanted to try macro to see if you like it.
