The robins are starting to eat the holly berries. They are much earlier this year than normal. Usually don't start until the end of December and some years not until February. Small groups of 5-8 eating with another 50 sitting in other trees waiting. If they swarm there will be 150 or so in each tree eating and they will strip the trees in a couple of hours. It is cool to watch but they do get drunk and fly into windows, crash land on the ground and fly into each other.
@collagemama I don't really know. The berries are definitely ripe but they are usually ripe by this time every year. It has been colder than normal. Our lows most of this week have been around 32 degrees, normal would be around 42 degrees. I also saw Cedar Waxwings last week, normally if they come it is the last week in November. Weather is crazy this year.
