These are the lights going down the street from my house. I was surprised how easy it was to do. It wasn't that dark out because the sun was just setting but even with a 3 second exposure the lights still showed up. I did darken the background just a little to hide some of the noise.
@shotsbymeg@jupiter394 Thanks Meghan. Judy they are the lights going down the street (the ones that look like old fashioned gas lights). There is one in the island, one about halfway down the street and one at the corner. I set stopped down to f22 because I wanted a longer exposure to get more swirls. I did do an exposure of 15 seconds but the background was light grey instead of dark blue-grey-black. My 4 second exposure was a medium blue background. I liked the 3 second exposure best, it was also the last shot I took so it was getting darker out. No tripod. I pressed the shutter and then moved the camera in a figure eight and circles, just all around. Once the shutter is pressed you can't see anything so you have to guess. My first shots were not real smooth (ended up with some sharper angles, rather than smooth curves). Also ended up with some shots where all of the lights were in the bottom or in one corner rather than all over. It's sort of a hit or miss shot because you can't see what you are shooting. This is the kind of shot that I think could be really cool with some of the lighting on the cruise ship. Multiple colors and lots of light bulbs. This is what Michelle did on her photo yesterday, she just had a lot more lights.
