Darters dam on the estate by ludwigsdiana

Darters dam on the estate

is losing water fast. We should have had plenty of rain by now, but still have temps in the upper 20's C. The bank is too high for the little Red Knobbed Coot chick in the right corner, Mum looks at it helplessly.
Great capture

even with all the rain we have had here my little pond is still so low I can't see any water. The water lilies flowered and it looked strange as there were just rushes and 2 flowers, but no water to see. no wonder that mum looks concerned watching that youngster

Very nice capture. I hope for you that you get the rain you need. I also hope that the little one managed to get out of the water. Dry weather here for the last days, probably we will not get a drop before next Autumn.

@shannejw Unfortunately only in the Easter Cape :(
@craftymeg
those are Red Knobbed Coot chicks Margaret. We do have Moorhens, but they are so shy, go back into the water and hide in the reeds when anyone approaches ;)
