Dried vines by ludwigsdiana

Dried vines

soon they will be pruned and ready for the next season. I wonder what will happen to the wines of the last season, as it is not allowed to be sold. All the estates are closed, with no visiting or tastings. Such a tragedy!
Not allowed to be sold?? Yikes. Fingers crossed things can get back to normal at some point.

fantastic seeing them at this stage before the pruning. are you saying that even if a vineyard made wine during the lock down they can't sell it, or is it simply that prohibition is still in place?
July 18th, 2020
Well wine is something that improves with age so there will be a light at the end of the tunnel! Miles and miles of vines!
July 18th, 2020
Why cant they sell the wine?
July 18th, 2020
Wow......Do hope next season is better ....can't they sell the wine at all??
July 18th, 2020
like the others, why can't they sell the wine? I'm sure its a poor medium for viral growth!

Great lines and shot...fav

Wonderful capture

Beautiful shot. Even at this stage the vines make a lovely spectacle. with the appropriate care I think they can save the wine for a few years. After all vintage wines exist and are sold at higher prices.

I have followed your wine industry tragedy closely, my heart breaks for the winery owners, I hope that most can survive the lockdown. To work as hard as they have to make a product that is sold worldwide then to slam the door on them is just horrible.

This is so devastating for your wine industry. Was all wine export also closed down?

Lovely light

So sad...

Terrific leading lines to your photo and such a nice contrast of the green grass between the vines
July 18th, 2020
That is so sad. Nice capture.
July 18th, 2020
So interesting to see the beauty in this image, but it also captures the tragedy of the lost year.

Nice lines and shadows

wonderful strong leading lines and colours

That's really sad...

Oh dear!

Last spring I procrastinated on buying some South African wine juice to make wine. I missed my opportunity. Looks like I will have to wait a bit longer to get some juice from S.A.
July 18th, 2020
They can send the wine over here, we’ll drink it
July 18th, 2020
Does mirror the sadness

The vines do look quite devastated in that condition but at least they can be pruned which in the long run is good for them. As for the wine itself- aging usually improves a wine so hopefully these businesses can hang on until they can sell them again. Are they forbidden to sell on line as well as in person? We're all hoping they'll be able to make it through. Good shot!

Great lines and shadow patterns
Suchs a shame.
July 18th, 2020
Lovely lines.
July 18th, 2020
That is a tragedy. Is it because of your new liquor law? I hope you have water restored.
July 18th, 2020
What a tragedy!
July 19th, 2020
Lovely shadows!
July 19th, 2020
Wonderful shot with those lines - and I'm as curious as most above on the story behind the no sell idea. Living in Arkansas wine country, I know what a terrible effect that would have on so many lives.

Looks like a shady respite in the vineyards.

Great shot of the vineyard!

@koalagardens @777margo @happysnaps @pusspup @louannwarren @merrelyn @olivetreeann @shutterbug49 @milaniet During our 3 month lockdown, no wine was allowed to be sold or exported. They lifted the ban for a few weeks, and realised that too many hospital beds were being occupied by patients who had either been stabbed, shot or gang related violence. More women and children were being physically abused and beaten too. These people just cannot handle alcohol! So as from last Monday, the ban was put back in place without any warning. We also have a curfew again. I am not sure if they are allowed to export again, but online shopping is also forbidden. We just hope it does not last till September, as we will be sitting dry then.

@ludwigsdiana thanks so much for the update - I hope the Kiffness comes up with another great song to show the situation. But how awful that when the ban was lifted there was so much violence so quickly!
July 19th, 2020
Hope they will survive 🤞
July 19th, 2020
@ludwigsdiana That must be so disheartening to the wineries. They work so hard but the irresponsible behavior of others towards innocent people puts their livelihood in danger.
July 19th, 2020
Great leading lines.

So sad to hear of the consequences of lifting the ban.
July 20th, 2020
Wow, hard to believe that the wine is such an influence. Great capture of the vineyards.
July 20th, 2020
@koalagardens @momamo @olivetreeann @ziggy77 @rickster549 Thanks for your kind words, we all can just hope for the best ;-)
