One of the oldest and most beautiful wine estates here. It was bought by Willem Adriaan van der Stel in 1700, after succeeding his father as Governor of the Cape. Six years later he started planting the vines, fruit orchards, camphor and oak trees and established 18 cattle stations. Anyone interested in more history can google vergelegen.co.za
It's beautiful and quite stately. There is a historic estate near here that also has a reflection pond- much more narrow than this one but now I see where they may have taken the idea from . Great architectural shot!
@ludwigsdiana very beautiful for servant housing and yet definitely a home for someone? The link took me to more of an advert for the estate rather than information about it (unless I did something wrong which is also possible!)
;-)
Have not been there in years. Time I visited again
