Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden by ludwigsdiana

Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

on the slopes of Table Mountain. It has a very interesting history. In 1660 Jan van Riebeeck planted the first trees, which were wild Almond In 1913 a Botanist transformed the land into a botanical garden devoted to indigenous flora of South Africa. There are over 7,000 species of plants on a 528 hectare estate. 36 hectare is cultivated garden.
I spent Sunday morning there with the Cape Town Bird Club.
