Thank goodness she seems to have her nest where the ornery squirrels aren't bothering her eggs. Makes me sad that we had broken robin eggs on our patio last week from a nest in our tree. She is way up high under the eave of my neighbor's two story house. Of course height doesn't stop squirrels!
@dide I've been told that they eat them. I haven't witnessed it, but the tiny blue eggs that were on our patio were broken apart and most of the contents gone. There was still a little yellow stuck to the inside of the shell.
We have sparrows nesting in our garden. They have been coming back for years. I don't know if it's the same pair or some other sparrows. Quite brave of them considering we have five cats! Nice capture.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODAB6MtGaSo at 1:00 it says they mostly eat plant foods... @dide@paulaw@lynnz We've had bird eggs fall from the next and break...they seem to dry up quite quickly... I hate to see squirrels get a bad rap, but I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade!
Lynn, the picture is a beauty! I do love that mother birds are able to resist the urge to flee/fly in the presence of us with a camera. I look forward to seeing babies in the weeks ahead!
