@shutterbug49@mrslaloggie Pella, Iowa is a small city that was founded by immigrants from the Netherlands. There are windmills all around the city. I think several are just decorative, but I really don't know. There is a large windmill a few blocks from this area that is a fully functional 1850s-style windmill, reaching 134 ft (41 m) high that grinds wheat into flour using only wind power and is the tallest working windmill in the United States. Every year they have a Tulip Time Festival in celebration of Pella's Dutch heritage, and I always go (along with thousands of others) to take pictures of the tulips.
Pretty shot- this community sounds really interesting. The Tulip Time Festival must be so beautiful. And I can see why the Dutch would be drawn to settle here as the geography is similar to what they came from (minus the below sea-level part!).
