Leadmines chimney by m2016

Leadmines chimney

This is a local landmark, which I often photograph from a bridge near my home, it's featured in my project a few times before. We have a better view of it from the office at work, so I managed to get a shot of it today.

It was the smelting chimney for the now defunct leadmines, which gave the locality the ominous nickname of Death Valley, owing to the high mortality rate due to noxious fumes released during the lead extraction process. Cheerful fun fact, I know :P
Thankfully, it's been obsolete since 1913...
interesting narrative and very cool b&w

Great B&W for some reason it almost looks alive to me. Like there are eyes in the ridge At the top and the spiral is an arm wrapped around it. Maybe I've had too much wine...
