Jack the Ripper by maggiemae

Jack the Ripper

Not content with post thumping last week, this tractor is at it again over the road from us, ripping out all the bushes! This 10 acre lot is now fenced with ordinary wire fencing (not fancy) and trees cut down, bushes ripped out, only one house left to either demolish or renovate.
So sad to see so much destruction in the name of progress, but that's life isn't it?

Why do they need to remove vegetation ? Great capture however :)
May 14th, 2012
Are they clearing a building site?
May 14th, 2012
It is really sad to see so much destruction. Sure uproots so much nature. Saw it here as so much wildlife was displaced and trying to live in other places. Thank goodness for preserves, etc. A shame this is so close to your home. The reason that we bought a house where nothing more could be built close by. Nice capture, Maggiemae.

Nice capture, so sad they are uprooting the greenery. Probably put in a lot of concrete and modern buildings.

This really made me sad. Your photo is awesome, but wow, that poor tree.
May 14th, 2012
@carolinedreams We don't know what is happening here. I'm just recording the steps to whatever! Probably a subdivision! Yuk!
May 14th, 2012
I'm surprised there are no signs up- 10 acres is a lot of land to develop suddenly.
May 14th, 2012
Wow! Sounds like you're fixing to see another housing development. Such a lovely old bush. Sad.
May 14th, 2012
@marlboromaam @carolinedreams That's a point, no signs, no notice in the paper requesting resource consent! Might I dare hope its going to be a horse haven?
May 14th, 2012
@maggiemae Oh! Now that would just be perfect! And lots of free manure for your roses!
May 14th, 2012
Well fingers crossed for the horses @maggiemae !

Ha Ha.....Love this! & the title!! : )
May 14th, 2012
good capture but I hate to see beautiful plants like this just ripped out.
May 14th, 2012
Ugh...hate to see this. Humans seem to do a great job of messing up the earth.
May 14th, 2012
Great capture. I guess progress is the name of the game??? Sad.
May 14th, 2012
nice capture......
May 14th, 2012
Such a pretty bush, what a shame but here's hoping it's nothing too invasive planned for opposite you !!! Does the tractor driver not know ? Interesting though & will watch developments with interest !!
May 14th, 2012
Wow!! why wouldnt they leave some of the shrubbery for privacy? i mean a wires fence is nothing fancy...i like your picture though!!
May 14th, 2012
I like the title, the description and the supporting photo - great perspective of a sad subject.
May 14th, 2012
Love your title - great shot too!!
May 14th, 2012
Changing landscapes, hope that whatever replaces it, will be worth it!
May 14th, 2012
Good capture, sad they need to take the bushes up.:(
May 14th, 2012
Wow, that's a lot of things to tear down/dig up. What is replacing the area there?
May 14th, 2012
I hope they replanted these huge lovely bushes.
May 14th, 2012
To bad about the bushes!
May 14th, 2012
@debbim Those bushes were on the street frontage. But the way they have taken all the trees down too and smoothed the ground seems indicative of a new subdivision @rwhite
May 14th, 2012
It's sad that so much is being ripped out.
May 14th, 2012
Perfect title for this destructive machine! Hope something good comes of this!
May 15th, 2012
oh noooo... how sad :(
May 15th, 2012
Fabulous title!! Nasty red tractor! It's such a pity that the greenery could not be incorporated in the plan! Cool shot!
