Olympic hopefuls

On the same harbour only this time the water was blue from a lovely blue sky, a group of girls were being taught the rudimentary skills of rowing. The teacher was in the far boat. The girls were finding it difficult to get the oars going all together.
Hope they worked it out.

@corymbia They had to go back to shore as there was another group of girls all waiting enthusiastically for their turn!

What a gorgeous capture. Love that blue water. Wonderful composition. You have to have very strong arms to row--I COULD NEVER DO IT!!!

Good on them for giving it a go - lovely colour pop with the boat and love the shimmery nature of the water and the crispness of the shot!

@kellc Thanks, Kelly and @yonnie - I have learnt from you lot to take heaps of photos and some were not as clear as this one - it was bingo for me when I saw it!

I'm getting tired just looking at the rowers! Such a work-out!
September 16th, 2012
Love the reflection of the sky in the water. The rowers always make it look so smooth and effortless, something tells me its a very hard work out. Nice shot.

@lyno Living by the sea means a different sea everyday if you are lucky enough to see this!

@franklein I think the hardest thing is the teamwork involved, Frances!
September 16th, 2012
Well - good for them for trying - and giving you a pretty photo op!
September 16th, 2012
I like the candid capture, the different light and shadow on both sides of the rowers and then the mirror reflection.
September 16th, 2012
@doblaine Thanks David - that's something I liked too!
September 16th, 2012
LOL they will get there, well captured Maggie.
September 16th, 2012
I'm sure it's a difficult sport. Nice capture.

They need a good stroke
September 16th, 2012
@peterdegraaff Yes indeed, Peter! Could you give any hints?

Gorgeous sky and the yellow contrasts well.
September 16th, 2012
Nice capture, what a work out
September 16th, 2012
They do look slightly unco-ordinated but will soon get the hang of it I'm sure. Looks quite a summery shot with the sun & blues & yellows.

Lovely shot Maggiemae! Like the light and the difference in water on both sides of the canoes...

I am always fascinated by the precision of the rowing in this sport. I imagine it takes many hours of practice to get the rhythm down. Nice shot.
September 16th, 2012
Ha! We take it for granted that that rowing thing must come naturally! Very cool capture!
September 16th, 2012
Brilliant colors!

It's all in the timing. Nice capture. My niece was on the rowing team for Smith college in the USA for four years. She really enjoyed it.
