As I was going to..... by maggiemae

As I was going to.....

Strawberry Fair.... Ri-fol, Ri-fol, Tol-de-riddle-li-do! These are the first flowers on our strawberry plants and are quite hidden under these green thick leaves
I love the flowers of strawberries as these have the promise of more to come

Oh I love strawberries. Fabulous focus, Maggiemae. They look like very healthy plants.
September 27th, 2012
we are going into fall, which i enjoy, but i think i like your spring better!
September 27th, 2012
These will be edible before you know it. I put in tomato, zucchini and lettuce plants yesterday as well as giving the garden a feed and weed. I love spring.

@carolinedreams ditto, Caroline - its the growing I like!
September 27th, 2012
stock up on short cake. Nice one
September 27th, 2012
@yonnie The funny shape of the petals made me wonder if there was a slug eating them but they all appear to be the same!
September 27th, 2012
@annbo You might still have strawberry jam?
September 27th, 2012
@sarasdadandmom That must be my favourite dessert - strawberry shortcake!
September 27th, 2012
@maggiemae I need to put more strawberries in as well, mine are getting a bit ancient. There's nothing like eating them straight off the plant on a warm summer's day.
September 27th, 2012
oooh cherries and now strawberries. Seems you will have a sweet harvest in the near future. I like that light on the leaves on the left and how the edges of the photo all around are softened.
September 27th, 2012
@buffy I was just out in the spring garden, Buffy and there is more future photographs to come - grapes, raspberries, rhubarb, tomatoes. The rhubarb doesn't have flowers though, does it?
September 27th, 2012
hehe I was just strawberry picking in the front yard yesterday! Sprinkler on a timer while we were away for a month seemed to do the trick. I've always let the patch get overgrown too, figure if they can't see the berries for the leaves and weeds the birds can't get them!
September 27th, 2012
@neda Yes, we seem to get away with all our strawberries not being eaten! The cat prowling around the edge might have something to do with it too!
September 27th, 2012
love the details!
September 27th, 2012
pretty, nice details and shades of green
