Rose, drowned in a green sea by maggiemae

Rose, drowned in a green sea

My poor rose was immersed in green water for over two weeks and so I pulled it out and noticed how the veins in the petals looked more fragile. It hadn't developed into a mature rose so this is a way of preserving its beauty!

Looks great enlarged!
This is so neat ,love the glossy leaves and the veins.Love this alot!!!

What detail you have captured. So you immersed it on purpose? I've never heard of that.

so pretty and delicate!

@cdonohoue it was a failed attempt with green food colouring into water so I put the rose in to see what would happen then forgot her!

Interesting the way that happened. I'm surprised the veins didn't carry the green color

Very interesting. It looks great viewed large. Love the detail of the veins!

I like the way you have composed and exposed this Maggie, it looks like a low key image. Those petals do look very delicate, but they are obviously made of strong stuff to withstand their soaking....

Oh that's beautiful - for some reason Miss Haversham comes to mind!

@judithg Now she is a very odd but interesting character, Judith - I can see where you are coming from (as they say)!

February 11th, 2013
Beautiful end results...did you do this to see what would happen and why green water!!
February 11th, 2013
@michelle58 Yes, I did do it and originally it was supposed to be a coloured dye going into the water photograph. Gave up on that one for the background wasn't right so upended this rose - seems to like it!
February 11th, 2013
Wow! It's stunning enlarged! Fantastic experiment!
February 11th, 2013

February 12th, 2013
Wonderful!

Very nice! The shot of the rose became more expressive after the sea bath. I would try to put some other things there... to see what the result will be.
