Mt Egmont

Or more recently, known as Mt Taranaki. The Maoris like to rename everything and a lot of our wonderful English and Scottish names have disappeared. It is 2518 metres high and is an active but quiescent volcano. Many people try to climb it and many have got into trouble with rapidly changing weather.

Flying over the top of it, we are on our way home!

I love this mountain so much, you are lucky to be flying right over the top like this. Technically, the name of the mountain originally was Taranaki prior to being re-named Mt Egmont.

@olivetreeann It normally has a cap of snow all year round so this is unusual. However, a day or so later it was once more capped with snow!
