I was snapping the sun coming up behind a bush on the opposite hill every few seconds. I too about 10 photos but only two of them had this aura. I had heard about it so investigated. "With slight magnification a green rim on the top of the solar disk may be seen on most clear-day sunsets, although the flash or ray effects require a stronger layering of the atmosphere and a mirage, which serves to magnify the green from a fraction of a second to a couple of seconds." Conditions need to be: atmospheric inversion layer below eye level; surface colder than air and close to sea level. Completely clear sky.
Three good things:
1. Watched some hilarious old episodes of Dads Army - "Permission to speak, suh"
2. Played "Put your arms around me honey" on the piano.
3. All Blacks won over France
Lovely capture. When I was in NZ, we looked for the green effect every sunset and saw it once I think when we were staying with friends on the North Island. We saw the long cloud often.
put your arms around me while we watch the green sunset. very nice capture of the green aura. i have seen this once and i thought there was something wrong with my eyesight. :-)
Beautiful green aura, heard of it before, but have never seen it in person.
Saw the victory of the all blacks, and although France is closer to us, I always cheer for the All Blacks, love their hakka :)
