One of the many wonderful old buildings in Madrid city which has great art, sculptures, fountains, public gardens. History goes back such a long way- The documented history of Madrid dates back to the 9th century, although the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The development of Madrid as a city began when Philip II moved his court from Toledo to Madrid in the 1560s.
Three good things:
1. In the heat of the day, we relished two Margaritas sitting in a 1950's style cafe. All that lemony ice!
2. Trying out snails from the menu of a very good restaurant right opposite the hotel! Umm... tasted a bit like mushrooms.
3. Our air conditioning is so efficient in our room that we got so cold - had to put on more clothes. Then we adjusted the temperature up.
@maggiemae THANK YOU MAGGIEMAE FOR UPLOADING THIS JUST REALIZED WHERE THIS PHOTO IS I TOOK ANNE TO MADRID IN 2009 FOR A BIRTHDAY TREAT WE SAW THE NEW AND OLD TOWN EVEN WENT TO A PLACE CALLED SERGOVIA
What a beautiful shot of such an old place. So well captured, Maggiemae. FAV Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. So nice to have A/C to keep cool while inside and great food and drinks to enjoy during the day.
Nice shot, Maggie. What a lovely setting. You captured the age of the buildings nicely. They have great texture to them. Great candid of the people walking around.
I like the look of natural materials so this shot appeals to me. The HDR processing has left the sky a little washed out, but in return has improved detail in the shadows/darker areas. Looks like a great place to visit.
