Above it all by maggiemae

Above it all

A different take on this mountain of NZ while flying above it. It's Mt Egmont or used to be called that. Why do they change names?

Three good things:
1. Smooth flight with great visibility of NZ as we flew over the top of it.
2. Wonderful birthday wishes from everyone!
3. Am older and wiser - I think?
Oh wow, this is pretty incredible, Maggiemae. Really neat take on the processing!

Ooh an amazing shot maggiemae.....what a tremendous veiw ...is it called another name now? Strange yellows cloud .....must be that bad boy that lives beside that mountain! You know who I mean!
October 15th, 2014
@happypat I think its called Mt Taranaki which is a Maori name instead of the English one. I used an app call FX Studio Pro for this effect!

I am glad that you had a safe an comfortable flight. interesting processing. In the US they are always changing names. Mostly sports stadiums and arenas if someone comes up with the money to have it named after them. Even countries are known for changing their names. As far a mountains, one in Alaska was and sometimes still called called Denali by the Koyukon Athabaskan people for, "The High One". When the Russians owned it it was called, "Bolshaya Gora" for, "great Mountain". But was later name Mt. McKinley for presidential candidate William McKinley who was elected president. I guess it happens everywhere.

October 16th, 2014
@darsphotos Thank you dear Darlene! You are a light in my life!
October 16th, 2014
@pauliek Thanks Paulette - I'd never thought of it like that but it does look a bit what you might see on a Japanese screen!
October 16th, 2014
@vega Thank you Vega - what a nice comment you made!
October 16th, 2014
@grammyn Thanks Katy - I actually didn't think it was such a brilliant subject but am pleased to see what others think and write!

@skipt07 That particular mountain has a wonderful history!
October 16th, 2014
This is an amazing shot. The mountain stands out so clearly above the clouds. I love flights where you get a window seat and can see the world below yoy
October 16th, 2014
Cool processing. It does look like an oriental silk screen print.
October 16th, 2014
awesome
October 16th, 2014
@kelly2 Sometimes you are stuck in the middle and can't see anything except heads!
October 16th, 2014
Fantastic view and processing .fav
October 16th, 2014
Great shot, great processing.
October 16th, 2014
Taranaki is a far better name imo wonderful, like a Japanese print
October 16th, 2014
Nice idea Maggiemae
October 16th, 2014
@maggiemae I'm a cheapskate when it comes to shorter flights as I refuse to pay extra to choose a seat! The result is the middle or not sitting besides my husband ! Airlines do annoy me at times - necessary evils
October 16th, 2014
Great shot and happy birthday!!
October 16th, 2014
I really do like the treatment you have given this aerial view of the naki and its iconic mountain. It looks and feels very Japanese and is so beautiful. Fav.

Great shot, but I think I would have preferred it without the processing.
October 17th, 2014
Cool processing! Is it volcanic?
October 18th, 2014
@olivetreeann I guess it was Ann - has all the hallmarks of a volcano but no steam coming out of it in our present day!
October 18th, 2014
@maggiemae Another thing to add to your "three good things" list (except then you'd have to change it to "four good things"!).
