Its our anniversary today but due to an exciting arrival we didn’t organise a special meal. John had arranged for his latest motorbike purchase to be transported to our place. The transport arrived, the motorbike downloaded, and John took a ride around our front lawn, smoking from behind (the bike, not John! He had a smile!
The three good things:
1. Being an 1949 LE Velocette it was easy to start from a ‘stick’!
2. My continuing cough finally sent me to the doctor where I was diagnosed with asthma! Steroids and puffers will see me in good health once more!
3. I bought a new cheese “Pale Ale’ - “beer washed Airdale curd, Motueka hops added, Scotts premium craft beer (from Oamaru). It is our Whitestone brand that wins prizes!
Wow never mind the bike look at that garden....beautiful! You are very forgiving letting him on the grass with that machine. Forgetting though it's mid summer & very dry whereas we are squelching!
Your lawn is in good nick considering you have been away so much & it has been neglected ! Asthma, well it's good to get a diagnosis & treatment. Hope you don't have it forever! John must be a very happy man!
It is dry but we have had a bit of rain to keep the lawn green. Yes the garden is looking beautiful now, Pat - rhodo's all gone but roses out and the lavender benefits from John's extreme pruning!
that is one handsome garden and your man looks good. love that lavander bush, so lush and pretty. asthma's not good to develop at our age. careful of the steroid though.
Happy Anniversary. Your garden is stunning. As is the bike. I cannot imagine riding my motorcycle on grass. I have visions of the tail end slipping. Ride in safety.
Looks like great fun! I notice you took this from a bit of a distance - not confident in John's driving on the grass?:) Beautiful yard! Wishing you a speedy recovery and a happy anniversary!
@mccarth1 thanks Kerry! You were right - he was going a lot faster than I thought was safe! However there were a couple of rose bushes between him and me so that might have been a good buffer!
Like the rest I love the yard! Being in the northern hemisphere I appreciate the lush green! as ours is gone for several more months! Happy anniversary! what a splendid way to celebrate! Glad you will be feeling better soon! Terrific composition of the shot too!
Happy anniversary. John looks as though he's really enjoying his new toy. Your garden looks wonderful. Glad you now know what's making you cough, you'll be climbing mountains with your new puffer!
Unusual to see a motorcycle on the grass! I'm not showing this to my husband because he might try it with his! Rather he stays on the street.
Actually, I'd rather the bike just stay in the garage...ha ha!
A beautiful garden, a happy man on a motorbike and an answer to your niggling cough - what else is there to ask for! Happy Anniversary, wishing you many more happy times together.
Happy anniversary. An exciting day and for your husband and he looks very happy to be on his new motorbike. Great photo and what a lovely garden you must have.
Happy Anniversary! This seems to be a happy man you're married to today, frolicking on the grass with toys! Hope your asthma is a seasonal anomaly and not chronic.
Awesome bike! I don't think there's a man alive that wouldn't want to ride any kind of bike through a garden- all that dirt and grass is great for sliding and falling and skidding! That lavender bush is awesome. I've got to plant one of those this year. Fun shot!
Hope you enjoyed the day. Would love to have a lawn like that now. We do have a lawn so big you cut for a whole day in summer time. Due to the drought there is water restriction and therefore no lawn.
Ah, this took me back to my youth. They used to be standard issue in England for police in urban areas - very well suited to their role as (unusually for the period) being water cooled they were extremely quiet and didn't announce their approach. They were affectionately (sort of) known as 'Noddy Bikes'. John will know all this! Fav for the nostalgia.
Happy Anniversary you two, and I am glad to see John smiling, and to know that you will be in good health in 8 days!! Nothing like not being able to breathe....hope it clears up soon! And, yes, your garden is looking fabulous!
