Shaky Bridge Cafe by maggiemae

Shaky Bridge Cafe

I'm standing on the Shaky Bridge - a walking suspension bridge and looking at the little cafe we had dinner at last night. The night was warm - 25deg and we sat outside. I had confit of duck with potatoes sauté ed in duck fat. My SIL who we were visiting, John's 90 year old sister, had salmon and John naturally a 200gm steak!
Three good things:
1. More data hunting going on in this small town of Alexandra. I claimed 620mb!
2. The rabbit pie remains uneaten - maybe lunch tomorrow
3. There are lots of quails around here - so cute with the little crest!
Get out...a rabbit pie?!:)

Neat photo...neat framing, colors, textures

Nice framing. I think I would be tempted to stay here for a while just to enjoy the quail. I have liked quail since I was a child, but there are few quail around where I live now.

The smoothness of the texture and colors really highlight this nicely

This looks like a cafe we'd enjoy -- sort of "funky", a bit different than the usual...... Nice capture of it.

@aglennc The French people have just taken over and have this new menu and are very keen to be successful of course.!

What a beautiful place to eat at. Looks like you are out in the middle of nowhere. Sounds like a great dinner. Not sure I could eat rabbit pie. Maybe not tell me what it is till I try it. How was it?

@darsphotos Totally delicious, Darlene - tender and a bit like chicken!

@maggiemae Glad you enjoyed it. Have you had it before? I have had frogs legs and they taste like chicken too. My Dad was adventurous with foods we ate out when I was a kid and we tried different things. Looks like such a nice time you are having.

@darsphotos It is Darlene, thank you! Shame its got to end.

@maggiemae We have always wanted to buy a motorhome and travel the USA. With my health and finances we were not able to. You are lucky to have this time away to enjoy. You will do it again.

Love it and this cafe is in such a lovely setting. Whilst visiting my sister who used to live in Alex, my claim to fame was mastering riding my bike over shaky bridge!

It looks delightful! We used to have rabbit pie when we were kids & visiting our Geordie Nana. Every time we visited she would make a rabbit pie for when we arrived. Us kids hated it but we must have eaten up because we had it everytime! You did eat up in those days!

@happypat You ate what was put in front of you - except in my case, green veggies might have taken several hours! No the rabbit pie was delicious but we don't see it here in Oamaru!
