Spring is round the corner by maggiemae

Spring is round the corner

We will leave Yolanda and Mr Man to their best friend meetings….
These amazing hyacinths come through every year and we have been here for 9 years. It must be the rest they have underground!
Got rather dirty lying on the cold soil to get this photo!

Three good things:
1. Rugby is on for half the day now so I have to plan my day around it…. exercise, music not too loud, the right lights on in the evening! Its not a big worry!
2. Enjoying learning about so much on 365 - history. architecture, music - all round the world!
3. I bought a dozen of ‘ungraded’ eggs and just about 80% are double yolkers!

Fantastic picture Maggiemae...

Lucky eggs, lucky you & John, would have saved me some time cooking one instead of two this morning! Love the scent of hyacinths! Don't be lying on the ground, you might never get up again without help!

@happypat I'm getting better at getting up off the ground now, Pat after having to do certain exercises every day - 200! For my lower hip pain.
August 25th, 2018
Oooh double yolkers...not had one of those for a long time.200!

Lovely hyacinths. Lying on a cold soil to take pictures... bad for your Blood pressure ;-)
August 25th, 2018
@gijsje But if I stayed down there for several hours - either my Bp would go down, or the ambulance might be called!
August 25th, 2018
beautiful light and color to your photo! Glad you are in such good shape to be able to get up and down on the ground!
August 26th, 2018
@grammyn The sun makes such a difference to the colour but can be too much on reflective petals which these are. Fortunately they are pointing down to the ground!
August 26th, 2018
A marvelous photo. I love the sunlight on the petals.

Lovely capture of light and color in this shot

Beautiful macro shot. I thoroughly agree with your 2nd good thing.
August 26th, 2018
Great lighting and colour.
August 26th, 2018
Gorgeous, love hyacinths but have managed to kill any that I've tried to grow. You're gamer than I am to get down on the ground, I need a block and tackle to get up nowadays.

Such a lovely colour

August 26th, 2018
@happysnaps We might get that rain too - in a couple of days!
August 26th, 2018
@maggiemae Yeah, now that's a good idea, so long as they don't have a straightjacket with them.
August 26th, 2018
such pretty flowers
August 26th, 2018
Finally, the winter blue is over.
August 26th, 2018
A lovely shot of this pretty flower. So much luck with the eggs, lot's to coddle now ;-)
August 26th, 2018
@ludwigsdiana Yes, the coddler would only take one double yolkier but I can get two normal eggs in provided I save some of the white!
August 26th, 2018
Beautiful colour.

I haven't seen double yolker eggs for a long time.
August 26th, 2018
Wow, that is an amazing proportion of double yolkers! Nice blue hyacinth too.
August 26th, 2018
@casablanca Frankly I don't think I've seen a double yolkier for years!
August 26th, 2018
Stunning colour

A beautiful colour
August 26th, 2018
A wonderful shot.
August 26th, 2018
I used to have two Hyacinths that came up in my garden but I think the squirrels dug out the tubers because they didn't come up this year. Very pretty!
August 27th, 2018
Awesome shot
August 27th, 2018
Well, even though you got dirty and cold you came up with a lovely shot.

@olivetreeann I solved the problem of animals eating my bulbs by this easy fix. I made little bulb cages out of small hole chicken wire box. When you plant the bulbs make sure they are facing up then cover the group of bulbs with the small chicken wire box cover with dirt in usual way. Flowers will grow up thru it and animals can't get to bulbs.

@sailingmusic That is brilliant! I will definitely try it!
