High on the hills above Oamaru I got a good look at the racecourse which has turned into Motorhome City. Over 700 vehicles parked here and it is so well organised - think of rubbish collection, water provision, toilet cleaning etc etc!
Thankful for:
The obvious cameradie between the travellers. Mostly fairly hefty in weight, fat dogs, dyed hair, paunches, ( oh, am I being judgmental?)! Nobody minds here!
@ludwigsdiana I always think it is so heartbreaking that you have one of the most beautiful countries in the world but so many troubles in it that curb the ability to enjoy it all.
This looks organised and fun! Is this a motor racing rally or just a shindig where you all turn up for fun to meet?
We have a NASCAR track not too far from here and during the two weeks leading up to the race there is a steady stream of motor homes arriving. I laughed at your description of these RVers!
@beryl There is entertainment put on for them there and shuttle buses to take them into town to explore, Bery! Not to mention caravans selling electric bikes, food, new stuff.
what a sight to behold! you have hills, sky, trees, water. and motorhomes!
i laughed at your descriptions of the attendees -- you can't be heard saying any of those things around here, where people are so "sensitively coddled", and can't even say them as a joke. free speech has been replaced by the so-called politically correct jargon. but that is only in canada. we are supposed to be sensitive to others' "predicament". 😜 we are soooo overly coddled!
Lovely view of the NZMCA rally. I'm glad we weren't there because we may fit your description which I did chuckle over. My sister in law described the Music in the Mountains rally as a "Winston Peters" party convention - how rude! I prefer to think it as a retirement home on wheels. lol
