PIkelets by maggiemae

PIkelets

I amazed and entertained by our 365 skilled photographers' postings each day. Creation and inspiration abound!

These pikelets from a homemade recipe were not perfect but they looked good. Not raspberry or strawberry but cranberry and plum (just as good) The topping was creamy yoghurt and not cream.

Glad about:
Being part of this amazing group of people all experiencing the challenge of Covid19!
These look pretty good! Yes, 365 has taken on a new meaning as we share the same experience across the world.

They look yummy. Plum jam is very nice. I've never heard of pikelets so dr Google to the rescue. Having looked at some recipes, I would probably call them crumpets.

Pikelets! I love them and cook them every now and then following the recipe of a “Scottish home baking” bought when traveling the Highlands back in the early nineties... Cream of tartar and baking soda, of course...

Lovely shot. They look like mini pancakes and look delicious!

@joysfocus They are basically mini pancakes, Joy. Same recipe. Easy to eat - unless they are hot and the jam and yoghurt slide off into your lap!

@happypat Jam was from a friend - I don't do jam or chutneys any more - they are so good from a market. John had three actually! He professed to being a glutton!

Had to Google “pikelets”. :). Yum!

@amyk Funny all those people who had to google spikelets when they have been part of NZ way of life for decades.

Oh wow, love, love, love pikelets, especially with jam and cream. I'm coming over to your place for arvo.

@golftragic You are very welcome! Next time I make them, I'm going to make the mixture a bit more runny. It was too thick and the middle of them was a bit doughy. Birds liked them though!

@maggiemae I must look up my old cookbook for the recipe I used to use when my now middle-aged kids were little.

I never made pikelets - although have certainly eaten them. Yours look good - a perfect afternoon tea.
