Cameo by maggiemae

Cameo

I had an idea - it didn't work out then I tried to do something with this photo - got so involved I didn't know how to extricate myself! However, this day's photo. And i am wearing a cameo.
Thankful for:
Decided to get rid of all my vinyl records. The music is good provided there are no scratches. They are heavy and take up space so out they go!
Well I hope you didn’t just chuck them out maggie. Vinyl is worth something over here especially old ones! Think of all those fab places in your Victorian/ Edwardian ? quarter who would buy them I imagine! This is a lovely shot & very suitable title!

@happypat mm - I intended to give them to a 2nd hand shop. But with your words, I might look further. I know there is a great quality 2nd hand book shop and my Shakespeare collection might go there!

Pat is right vinyl is very popular right now. Don't just chuck them out

A lovely cameo shot Maggie -- yes ! my vinyl were chucked out before they became the height of fashion again ! but sometimes it is easier to get rid !!

I gave all mine to my daughter when we moved to SA. She still has to buy a record player 😉

@ludwigsdiana Ha, Diana! A neighbour gave us all of theirs - 3 children now grown up! They were mostly all scratched!

Lovely cameo! I like your idea.

Hope you have success in finding a buyer for the vinyl.

@maggiemae @beryl

Jack has bought a record player in the last few months...they are very neat these days! He has some vinyl.
Will be interesting to see if you have any joy selling them maggie!

Hope you can find an interested buyer for your vinyl records.

A nice cameo! I gave my nephew all of my vinyls with original covers years ago.

I love this, it has the shape and look of a cameo. Here they have companies that take your records and put them on flash drives or CD’s. But honestly you can go to a music site and download them to your phone or iPad, a lot less trouble.

Cameos were so popular when i was younger. I like the feel of your cameo portrait, wearing a cameo.

the cameo presentation works a treat. Were you not even tempted to give the vinyls one last play before ditching them.

This is a spectacular cameo photo of you! Very well done. A shame about the vinyl records but I understand the size constraints

@louannwarren Exactly my thoughts, Lou Ann!

@helenhall I have Helen - but honestly they only last for a short while and you have to turn them over as well as being so careful with the needle!

@happypat I'm going to give them to a charity shop, Pat. They always have plenty of room and appreciate any donations!
September 7th, 2020
I like the cameo within the cameo - do Google LPs wanted or similar before donating as you may be pleasantly surprised - you could then give the money to a charity if you wished to.

@fbailey Actually I have done that - but mostly found the shops that might have taken them, have closed down!

@maggiemae What a shame! Ebay?

Nice selfie.

@fbailey Frankly Felicity - I can't be bothered with all the hassle. I've sold so much on those sites and its a lengthy process and with all the freight costing so much, its now a no.no.!

Very short of time, but did love reading the thread and, of course, the cameo.

@golftragic Well, thanks Marnie for your speedy pop in!

Lovely selfie and cameo. I threw away my vinyls when I changed my flat. And today I regret it.

@haskar Do you think its because of the quality of sound? You would have to have a record player. I have a record player and its neat but I can get the same quality from music apps and a good stereo. No cd, vinyl - just internet!
September 8th, 2020
@maggiemae I feel sorry for the few vinyls with recordings that are not on CD or on the Internet. Check well before you throw it away.
September 8th, 2020
@haskar You are right - but with 50 - 60 records, the thought is daunting!
