Mare's tails.. by maggiemae

Mare's tails..

This morning the sky showed us what is happening up there!
Mare's tails mean--"For centuries, many a sailor has learned to heed the message of high, windswept clouds to batten down their hatches. As the proverb goes, “Mares’ tails and mackerel scales make lofty ships to carry low sails.” Together, wispy cirrus clouds resembling horse tails and patchy cirrocumulus signal that a rain storm is on its way"
I darkened the blue of the sky to emphasise the cloud formation.
Thankful for:
A big bag of 'spring carrots' from the Farmers' Market - so tender. And.. able to buy artichokes to make soup - such a unique flavour!
Gorgeous sky!

I don’t think I have ever heard that saying before! A cute way for predicting weather. Your photo is magnificent especially since you darkened the sky

@happypat It is what took my eye while enjoying coffee on our deck looking north!

Lovely sky and Cirrus uncinus. The more curved the cloud, the stronger the wind in the upper atmosphere.

@haskar It sounds as if you know the effects of the different cloud formations! I'm fascinated!
