We have untold success with our radishes this year. But John bought a couple of bags of compost and dug this into the soil before we planted.
One of my favourite food combinations is radish sandwiches. Salt on the sliced radish, so juicy and flavoursome!
I love how you compose this one. It’s beautiful and so colorful. I’ve never thought about having a radish sandwich before. Onion sandwich? Yes. radishes, no!
they look excellent. Never thought of a radish sandwich. I like a good watercress sandwich though so would probably enjoy the radishes (as long as they didn't keep falling out!)
@helenhall I love egg and watercress sandwiches but find getting the watercress difficult. In some parts of NZ it grows wild in a little stream but you have to learn to identify it!
And, you are right - they do slide out - you have to make a grab at them with your munching jaws!
What else do you put in the sandwich besides salted radishes? Any condiments? Lettuce? Etc? Open face? What kind of bread do you use. Lots of questions! LOL!
@gardenfolk I love the questions, - you sound interested. No condiments except salt. I always like white bread as you can appreciate the filling whereas if you use brown bread etc, that's all you taste!
@maggiemae So just two slices of white bread salt and radishes? No mayo? I am visiting a friend next month who loves radishes so I want to make it for her! :)
@maggiemae HaHa! Maybe it will help to keep them inside. I also might try radishes in a pita pocket! Will let you know...I am getting hungry and it is 1am!
