Boer Goats... by maggiemae

Boer Goats...

"Originally from South Africa, the breed is known for its fast growth and superior meat quality. These are the largest domestic goats in the world, with the heaviest of them maturing at over three hundred pounds. Boer goats are primarily farmed for their meat, where they are sold in auction markets or directly to consumers".
Seen in a field next to the bike or walker trail. There were about 5 of them here and I imagine they would be pets. The young ones have no horns yet. They really look huggable!

Thankful for:
My camera jiggled and joggled in my bike basket and lost a few items but I was able to screw them back on!
Funny that these are from South Africa, ... I saw the photo and thought it was one of Diana's. Lovely capture of these bright, beautiful beasts!

What a wonderful find Maggiemae, they certainly are beautiful beasts and are far superior to any other breed. Funny enough I have never seen any goat meat on sale here, although the quality must be outstanding. Will have to check it out ;-)
