I cooked this in a stove pot rather than in a hot oven, It looks OK here and successful... but... on the bottom is was solid black! Too hot on he bottom. However the top part worked all right and served with salad and mashed potato, was OK.
I've got all the windows open on this winter's night trying to get rid of the burnt smell!
Makes for a great culinary shot Maggie! fav
Haven't had toad in the hole for ages! but shall wait for the need of the comfort food in the Winter months!!
Lol! Your tag made me chuckle! I’ve never had toad in the hole before, so I wouldn’t begin to know how to prepare it, but perhaps, if you tried it with a lower heat and cooked it a little slower, wouldn’t have had to open the windows. I’m so glad it was Salvageable. The photo of it is fantastic.
Now that looks good! Is the black background in honour of the actual product I wonder? Hope the burnt smell has now gone. You did, at least get part of a good meal and an excellent photo out of it.
We had toad in the hole a couple of weeks ago but never cooked it like that only in the oven. It does look very tempting though…..we can’t see any burnt! Hard to get rid of burnt smell it does seem to linger!
@grammyn If cooked in the oven - the temp has got to be 210degC (410 F) It has to have high temps but the the stove option does not work, I realise. I think I'll have to go out and bury the burnt remains!

I have had to open windows before to clear the burnt smell Maggiemae. .ha-ha..
I don't know this dish, but if there is sausage in it my husband would love it.
