This is in the Loan and Merc building. At other times it is an enormous restaurant with long tables and the menu includes 5 different types of roast meat. The tables have been cleared away for this exhibition of artwork focused on IHC (People with disabilities) From Oamaru this expo goes to New York.
The immense columns you see are made of granite and welded together with lead. The building was built over 130 years ago as a grain store for shipping grain to world markets. The second storey is used now to hold 100's barrels of New Zealand distilled whiskeys. These are in storage, maturing for the last 30 odd years and are now being bottled for sale in competition with "Ye Olde Scottish Malts"
