Where to?

Up on the top of the hill above Oamaru is this signpost. It's quite unusual as it has the North and South Poles identified and somewhere in Germany, 18600km away, the Suhler Hutte. Can't find why that one is there. The North Pole is 15200km away and the South Pole, 5600km.

I keep meaning to get a pic of one similar that is next to my brother's in-law's house. There are probably 30 different directional signs on it! I've never read them all, but maybe it's time I did!
