But this is our food! A cheeky sparrow got up on the bird table and looked a bit nervous! Managed a couple of pecks of the honeyed bread then was completely overpowered by the silver eye family
This photo was an attempt at bird photos having read the blog on 365. The window was above the sink where I was doing dishes. These birds arrived and I was poised over the sink with my camera for about 10 minutes until I just about fell in!
I can just picture you doing this one, Maggiemae! We get so caught up in our focusing that we forget everything else. Love those two "silver eye" birds. Gorgeous!
wow they sure look spooky and scary. Nice capture Maggie hope the back is not too sore :) Do you know what the green birds are? they have lovely colours.
I really love little wax eyes. You have inspired me to try to attract them back to the city. So honeyed bread is the trick? We now have tuis in our flax during Summer thanks to the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary. For a long time there were none.
They are tricky to catch through the kitchen sink window, I know!! I found that putting the rapid-fire setting on the shutter helps- but all I have is a little p & s.
Those silver eyed birds are amazing. I've never seen such a species. Your commentary made me laugh. I can so picture it because I have done the same thing. I usually lean my camera on the coffee maker to steady it.
Birds aren't easy, Maggiemae, as they move so fast. Makes me in awe of 365-ers who capture great bird shots but yours is great (and I love the narrative!)
Love those little poppy eyed birds, I think they are staring the sparrow out! Great shot as it must have been through glass too. Talking about Tui birds our dog is named after them!
Birds are so territorial. We have finches, who get chased off by the crows, who get chased off by the ravens, who get chased off by the hummingbirds. Great free entertainment when I can catch it.
