Just hanging about... by maggiemae

Just hanging about...

waiting for the rain to stop! Practicing a spider shot for most of the afternoon with poor light, a flash, rain on the camera - and me! I used my macro to such an extent that I dislodged him and he had an instant lesson in absailing! I think he's exhausted now - you can just see the one thread above and the one below to that white dot.

It's a nice shot but i still feel like I want to hit it with my shoe

Spider nap! Love that is the outcome of all the practice.

@yentlski John kept saying to me, 'have you squashed it yet?"

looks like he is curled up

The things that creatures must endure for art's sake. I don't know my spiders very well - which end is his head?
July 31st, 2012
@doblaine its head is between its claws! Yours would be too if you had to endure all that camera intrusion!

That's the problem with macros, you often get too close...but a great shot came out of it, so it's a win.

Great capture

It's gone into spidery foetal position. I admire your tenacity. I've never played with a macro, looks like fun. Except I dislike bugs so will focus on other things.

@maggiemae I think your practice was worth it.

It's a wonderful macro, Maggiemae! LOL! Looks like it's gone into defensive mode! Love the tones in the background!

LOL ... you ended up with a great photo, Maggiemae. Sounds like me. I work way too hard for a photo sometimes!! We make a great pair. :)

@karenann Thank you for your comments, Karen! I'm nowhere near your expertise and experience but I do like to get somewhere with a subject! So do everyone else here! They are so good!

@marlboromaam Poor spider, I do not feel sorry for it...there are 100s more out there crawling and hanging around!

Love the theatrics

I hate to tell you how many spider shots I have tried--to no avail. But seeing your shot here, I am motivated to try more.

Deb
I think it needs a proper wake!

A very patient spider !!! I can't make out if he is upside down but thought I saw him wink!
July 31st, 2012
We need rain but not spiders -- plenty of those about.
July 31st, 2012
We need rain so badly. The heat and drought is causing the creepy crawlies (lizards here) to look for a cooler place and water to drink.
July 31st, 2012
Great shot! The drought is so bad here that the wild animals are moving into town to find food and water. I hope the drought breaks soon.
