Drill

At the Victorian Oamaru event, there were a few muskets being fired and a cannon! This Victorian soldier was showing a young soldier of today how to walk, with rifle ready!
The uniform of the Victorian soldier is so interesting. The bottom of his pants are almost like bell bottoms. So glad that you are sharing these.

Such great contrast between past and present. I also love the sign, "Look for Trains." As if they might be there if you look hard enough.

Maggie, Youtube has the beginning of What Remains -- you'll see Sally Mann not only using her camera but carrying it around -- it looks very heavy and a bit unwieldy.

@maggiemae "What Remainsz" is the title of the film about Sally Mann, named after her show and her book. The remains are the land, the sky, and in some cases human bodies in various states of decomposition taken at the "Body Farm," a forensic lab in Tennessee dedicated to studying the stages of decay and how that knowledge can help solve crimes. People donate their bodies and they are left to decay in woods and fields and ponds under the observation of forensic scientists. Sounds gruesome but Mann's photos are amazing studies of what remains after a person's death.
If you read Patricia Cornwall's murder mysteries (too scary for me) she used the lab in a book called "The Body Farm."
