Ocean waves by maggiemae

Ocean waves

A fleck of foam on the shining sand,
Left by the ebbing sea,
But richer than man may understand
In magic and mystery--
Transient bubbles rainbow-bright,
Myriad-hued and strange,
Tremble and throb in the noonday light,
Flower and flush and change.

A million tides have come and gone,
Great gales of autumn and spring,
A million summoning moons have shone
To bring to birth this thing--
A foam-fleck left on the ribbed wet sand
By the wave of an outgoing sea,
With all the colour of Faeryland,
Wonder and mystery.

Such a beautiful shot, Maggiemae. I miss being able to go to the beach and listen to the ocean and watch the waves. And the poem is perfect for the shot.

New Zealand beaches...heaven!! Love the gossamer waves & your vantage point. I have been on Blackpool beach today, nice but not quite the same.

@happypat I like this particular shot for the smooth beach - I was up high on one of those cliffs that are being pommelled by waves!

@yonnie Thanks for your comment Yvonne- this shot would be lovely in the moonlight but I can' be bothered going out there! One day, I just might, though!
