Waitaki Bridge by maggiemae

Waitaki Bridge

This was built in 1956 to replace the bridge that both rail and road used. The river is the Waitaki which is a major source of hydro electric power for NZ having three dams and power stations. It is also known for its salmon. There are not many places to swim in the actual river as the current is quite fast. The river is about 20 minutes north of us.
Nice comp. I like the detail in the bank

Ditto on the composition comment! The stumps and rocks in the foreground and the bridge disappearing in the distance. Great snap!

Looks very long and accented by the inclusion of the foreground objects. Great capture.

@lynnb The train goes over another rail bridge further down the river and this bridge is a two lane bridge for car traffic, Lynn!
